Juicy Lucy (Stuffed Turkey Cheeseburgers)

"Juicy Lucy (Stuffed Turkey Cheeseburgers)" lands at 33g of protein for 309 calories a serving, which makes it an easy way to hit a protein target on Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound without overeating. It leans pungent, so save it for a day your stomach is settled rather than right after an injection. Quick enough for a weeknight when cooking a full meal feels like a lot.

Ingredients
- 4 slices part-skim cheddar cheese slices (or 2% American cheese (0.7 ounces each))
- 1 pound 93% lean ground turkey
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- black pepper (to taste)
- 4 hamburger rolls (I use Martins whole wheat 100 calorie potato rolls)
- 4 Iceburg lettuce (leaves)
- red onion (sliced into rings and separated)
- ripe tomatoes (sliced )
- sliced pickles
- ketchup and mustard (optional (or your favorite condiments, if desired))
Method
- 1Heat the grill to medium and clean and oil the grates.
- 2Fold each cheese slice into quarters to make four small stacks.
- 3Divide the turkey into 8 balls and flatten each into a 1/4-inch patty.
- 4Set a cheese stack in the middle of 4 patties, top with the remaining patties, and pinch the edges to seal, pressing the sides so each burger is an even thickness. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- 5Grill covered over medium, about 6 minutes a side, until cooked through. Move to buns with your toppings, and let them cool a moment before biting in so the molten cheese doesn't burn you.
Tips for GLP-1 appetites
- Not the gentlest option on a rough stomach day — better suited to when appetite and digestion feel normal.
- Go lighter on the strong aromatics (garlic, onion, spice rub) if smells are a trigger right now.
- At 33g of protein a serving, this alone gets you a meaningful chunk of the way to a daily 80–120g protein target.
